London’s biggest alcohol show, formally known as Imbibe but this year rebranded as BCB London (June 30-July 1), was a cornucopia of spirits innovation. Brands showcased plentiful intricately-flavoured yet locally accessible versions of spirits from around the world, while sustainable brands outlined ecological efforts present at every part of the production process.
Spirits producers took inspiration from drinks formats and categories from around the world to create their own versions, using a combination of local ingredients and international techniques. Meanwhile, brands tweaked spirit flavour profiles to make them less intimidating to unfamiliar audiences. Creating affordable spirits for on-trade use was also a key concern as rising prices force potential drinkers out of bar spaces.

Meanwhile, exhibitors extolled the rise in interest for Asian spirits like soju and shochu in the European market.
