Back in 2021, we created our Fashion Directions for S/S 23. In this short report, we show how Trip was validated firstly at luxury level, and then across the mass market.

The Zeitgeist 2021

Research for our S/S 23 Directions began in early 2021, looking at the evolving zeitgeist – across the socio, cultural, political, technological and design innovation spheres – that would inform future product development. Here are some of our key takeaways.

July 2021 - Stylus Direction Trip S/S 23

In 2021 we explored the visual space where the real and the digital merge and morph in a stimulating and mind-expanding modern aesthetic, resulting in our S/S 23 Direction Trip. Nature provided key inspiration - viewed through a psychedelic filter - as did the need for escapism and self-expression in a post-pandemic world.

2022 - Catwalks & Collections for S/S 23

In 2022 luxury designers and brands leapt on this theme in collections abundant with digitally inspired colour, psychedelic patterns and unexpected material mixes. Styling alluded to consumer desire for escapism and self-expression in statement silhouettes, body conscious looks and bold print combinations.

2023 - Mass Retail

S/S 23 has seen great confirmation of Trip at mass market level with all kinds of brands and retailers embracing phygital aesthetics, supernature-inspired colour and modern psychedelia. Statement styling, often with a body conscious feel, has also featured as have exciting expressive materials with an escapist dress-up quality.
