Gaming: Delta Flags Major Retro Gaming Movement

Delta, a new app that lets people play classic – and otherwise unavailable – Nintendo games on their iPhones and iPads has conquered the App Store download charts across 35 countries. While modern games’ visuals become ever truer to real life, the retro gaming boom reveals nostalgic and novel appetites for more simplistic and stylised play.

Music & Sound: Indaband Engages Global Music-Makers

A new Brazilian social video app focused on music creation called Indaband connects (amateur and professional) musicians for remote collaboration. Users find videos where they can jump in to add their own voice or instrument performance alongside somebody else’s work – with infinite iterative contributors – making the app a social crowd-creation network for enthusiastic music-makers to find global bandmates.

Entertainment: Reverb Exhibition Turns Up Immersive Soundscapes

From May 23 to September 28 2024, London-based record label and vinyl pressing plant The Vinyl Factory will host Reverb, an immersive exhibition intersecting sound and art. Over 100 musicians and artists will present multisensory installations, exclusive live performances, talks and listening parties, creating a summer-long one-stop musical culture hub.

One to Watch: Gaggl Takes Comeback Content to Livestreaming Audiences

UK-based Gaggl is a new self-described “TV 3.0” platform that lets online livestreamers – on places like Twitch, YouTube, or Roblox – licence old TV content to watch with their community. This socially minded update for appointment viewing is a savvy move leading cord-cutting younger viewers to the back catalogue of broadcast TV.
