Sports and active lifestyles continue to be paramount influences on global youth style as consumers increasingly prioritise wellness – but also, as the world of sport positions itself as a linchpin of pop-cultural cross-fertilisation, with art, music, luxury fashion, and beyond.

For 2025, this means that two active-inspired cohorts will have a massive impact on commercial aesthetics. One is the Open-Source Sports crew we introduced in Youth Style Collectives 24. Given how this group is still impacting and evolving, it merits an update. The other – the Preppy Heritage collective – is representative of Gen Zers’ burgeoning interest in all kinds of heritage sports and associated aesthetics.
