According to Tinder, Asia-Pacific Gen Zers share a pragmatic, open-minded approach to dating, whether balancing professional and romantic goals or deploying artificial intelligence (AI) to upgrade their flirting.

  • Balancing Professional & Romantic Trajectories: Across Asia-Pacific, single Gen Zers want to focus on both love and work. Over the next three years, 29% are making finding a long-term partner a priority, whereas an equal share wants to progress their career. This balance remains for the longer term: for 27%, getting married is a top priority over the next seven years, while 26% hope to move up the career ladder.

  • Couple Goals: In relationships, 87% of Asia-Pacific Gen Zers want equal partnerships. Some 49% want their partner to value their opinions and individual priorities, 47% wish to work towards shared goals, and 47% desire mutual emotional support.

  • Adjusting Gender Norms: Of Gen Z singles in Asia Pacific, 73% are open to gender and sexual fluidity. Notably, they take an expansive view of this term, with 37% saying that fluidity includes race and social class alongside gender and sexuality, compared with 25% who consider fluidity to pertain only to gender and sexuality.

    Perhaps aligned with this, women increasingly value men who display respectful behaviour. They say good behaviour is to: be on time (43%), maintain respectful online conversation (41%) and ensure their date gets home safely (41%). Meanwhile, 30% value gestures, like paying for a date.

  • Romantic AI: Among Asia-Pacific singles, 68% believe Al could help them find common ground or conversation topics with potential matches.
