Wellbeing was the leading theme across 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen (June 12-14), where designers and brands focused on living well at home, at work, in third spaces and outdoors. Once a space is well-furnished, it usually remains that way for years, even if our lives change and technology evolves – an idea exhibitors at the show were adamant about challenging. Scandinavian brands are renowned for reissuing iconic designs from the past, and there were numerous striking re-editions on show at 3 Days of Design. Across new collections, retro influences were prevalent in styling cues and design narratives, ranging from mid-century nostalgia to Brazilian modernism.
Sustainable designs and circular concepts take a remarkably practical perspective, demonstrating how ingrained they are in the creative process of many Danes. The most noteworthy case studies generate new ecosystems that link various businesses, production facilities and material streams, while licences are also gaining ground.
