Suitable for use across a multitude of surfaces – including wood, metal, plasterboard and leather – Unpaint is designed as a temporary and short-term alternative to traditional architectural paints.

It’s formulated using Glasst’s proprietary Glasstommer technology, which includes a biodegradable elastomer derived from natural and renewable resources. The paint goes on as a liquid (and can be applied using standard brushes, rollers and sprayers) but dries as a solid, film-like layer that is easy to remove by hand, leaving no residue or damage behind.

Because of its composition, the coating lasts up to 12 months in indoor spaces without direct sunlight before it starts to degrade. After use, it will naturally decompose in domestic composting conditions (except for its non-toxic, mineral-based colorant).

Unpaint offers up an interesting new direction within the paint category. While it provides short-term solutions for both residential and commercial renters, as well as events and exhibition spaces (with scope for seasonal and calendar-event-specific decorating), it will resonate with those wanting to experiment with colour or reinvent their spaces on a regular basis, without permanence.

This opportunity for change will particularly appeal to the large group of consumers who like to redecorate on an annual basis, in mood-boosting new colour schemes (see Key Stats).
