CES 2025: Energy & Heat Tech Innovations

As global temperatures continue to rise and energy efficiency becomes increasingly critical, technology companies are developing innovative solutions for personal cooling and portable power generation. Exhibitors at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcased how personal accessories can leverage energy-efficient design to help consumers cope with heat-related challenges.
- Wearable Solar Innovations: Exhibitors presented creative approaches to generating power on the go. Chinese sustainable technology brand EcoFlow’s Power Hat has small solar panels embedded in its brim, allowing users to charge two devices simultaneously via USB-A and USB-C ports. It aims to offer a practical solution for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals working in environments with limited access to power sources.
Chinese electronics manufacturer Anker demonstrated several concept solar-powered chargers, including the Solix Jacket (a jacket made from flexible solar panels) and the Solix Solar Beach Umbrella – capable of generating up to 100 watts of power via XT-60 and USB-C connections. The umbrella provides enough energy to power the company’s latest electric cooler, the Solix EverFrost 2.
Meanwhile, American GPS navigation and wearables company Garmin introduced its Instinct 3 smartwatch, which uses solar-powered displays to extend battery life.

- Thermal Performance Monitoring: Swiss wearable technology company Core unveiled its Core 2 thermal sensor, which offers medical-grade real-time thermal load monitoring for athletes. It enables athletes to track how quickly their body heats up during training, helping them strategise hydration and cooling to optimise their performance.
- Advanced Cooling Textiles: Canadian-Swiss textile technology brand Myant-Osmotex showcased an advancement in moisture management with its Active Electroosmotic Membrane Jacket. Unlike traditional breathable textiles, the jacket functions as a controllable ‘textile pump’ that can effectively move moisture at human sweat rates, even in heavy rain. This innovation addresses limitations in alternative textile design and supports performance across various environmental conditions.
