Mobile World Congress (MWC, March 2-5 2026, Barcelona) gathered leading technology brands and industry experts to survey cutting-edge products across consumer electronics and artificial intelligence (AI). We highlight the standout developments, including smartphones with integrated AI assistants, modular gaming hardware and convenient workplace tech.
Globally, 69% of senior leaders at tech brands believe consumers are at least somewhat interested in on‑device generative AI tools, such as note‑taking, image enhancement and live translation (Mobile World Live, 2025). This confidence was reflected at MWC 2026, where smartphones featuring system‑level extensive AI capabilities were prevalent.

At MWC 2026, brands showed AI devices designed to act as both practical personal assistants and affective companions. Some tools help users manage their emotions, while others execute routine tasks, such as navigation, translation and note‑taking. Notably, these AI gadgets often don’t use screen-based interfaces, enabling more natural interactions.
Exhibitors at MWC 2026 introduced adaptable hardware that aims to make digital and remote work easier. Modular computers can morph from a laptop to a tablet to a desktop display – making them suitable for myriad tasks – while distraction‑free phones help users maintain focus. Beyond the office, brands presented laptops equipped with 5G and solar charging capabilities to support on-the-go productivity.
By 2030, the global mobile gaming market is estimated to reach $195bn, up from $124bn in 2023 (GlobalData, 2024). Brands at MWC showed that in-game AI chatbots are moving the sector. Meanwhile, modular mobile gaming set-ups with new hardware will likely appeal to gamers who regard hardware as a collectable – a mentality we detail in Retro Gaming.
