Electronics brands are devising new televisions and monitors as adaptable and portable units to match consumers’ increasingly dynamic lifestyles. Leading this flexible approach is LG, developing its innovative TV to meet viewers’ content needs both indoors and out.

The StanbyME Go is a 27-inch touchscreen display built into a clever briefcase-style carrying case that can be easily packed up and transported for in- and outdoor use. Its design is highly durable: LG developed the display to US military standards in terms of withstanding low pressure, low and high temperatures, dust, salt spray, drops and vibration. This means users can enjoy the device on the beach as well as in their living room.

The display is adaptable, catering for different scenarios and environments. The screen tilts to provide a clear picture even when the device is positioned at an awkward height or angle. It rotates so viewers can look at content in either landscape or portrait orientation (the latter being useful for streaming mobile content and rolling social feeds). Meanwhile, “table mode” delivers content when the display is lying flat on a surface, supporting digital board games.

Portable TVs have been a focus for LG for some time, with the brand launching the wheelable StanbyME unit at CES 2022. However, this shift towards rugged design is a savvy move, as a growing cohort of Gen Zers and luxury consumers embraces outdoor pursuits and adventure holidays.
