By looking to normalise and celebrate female sexual wellness, smart brands are tackling the stigma and shame surrounding women’s pleasure. Championing this, recently launched US company Playground’s line of plant-based lubricants is intentionally designed for women, helping them experience a deeper connection with themselves and their partners.

The collection includes four full-sensory personal lubricants formulated to arouse the five senses and erogenous zones to amplify a woman’s mood, mind and libido. The unique water-based and clean formula is pH-balanced and free of irritants and fillers (like petroleum) to ensure it is soothing and nourishing.

Each pleasure-enhancing lubricant features a blend of three adaptogens: ashwagandha, black cohosh and horny goat weed. These herbs stimulate blood flow, increase libido and enrich chemistry in the bedroom. Alongside this, soothing vitamin E, hydrating hyaluronic acid and fermented bamboo extract help protect delicate skin.

Playground encourages all women to think of sex as an essential part of their overall wellness and be in the driver's seat of their journeys. Male and female sexual experiences and challenges in the bedroom are fundamentally different, with the brand claiming 85% of women have difficulty achieving orgasms (Playground, 2022).

“Women's sexual experiences have been misunderstood and underserved for far too long. Most women at some point in their daily lives experience dryness or struggle to reach an orgasm – yet most personal lubricants on the market fail to help them," says chief executive Catherine Magee. "Playground's mission is to make every woman feel empowered and inspired to improve their sexual experiences, with amazing products [that] they're excited to use as much as their favourite beauty product.”
