As explored in Empowering Women with Emancipating Products, brands are aiming to normalise, celebrate and facilitate all aspects of life with quality products and solutions, including the disruptive effects of hormonal changes. New US brand Muhza addresses this with skincare products designed for monthly hormonal fluctuations during each phase of the menstrual cycle.

Working in harmony with nature and the body’s natural cycles, the range of high-performance serums works with specific hormonal variations to balance, heal and nourish the skin, aligning with the skin’s unique evolving needs during each phase of the cycle. Science-driven research combined with ‘clean’ ingredients results in gentle formulas that provide targeted support.

The cycle-synced set includes the Muna Serum which hydrates and restores the skin during the menstrual phase with prebiotics, probiotics, peptides and hyaluronic acid. The Puri Serum encourages renewal during the follicular phase with fruit acids and mandelic acid for exfoliation and resurfaced skin. For the ovulatory phase, the Qori Serum works to shield and balance the skin, reducing hyper-pigmentation and boosting collagen with bakuchiol and licorice root extract, while the Ayni Serum calms inflammation with lactic acid and salicylic acid during the luteal phase. Muhza also markets the Ilari Oil Cleanser to help repair the skin’s moisture barrier and improve elasticity with nutrient-dense oils and botanical extracts like safflower oil and sea buckthorn oil.

“Our skin isn’t static,” says founder Alexia Coutts. “It changes from dry to oily, inflamed to dull, even the skin barrier thickens and thins depending on where you are in your cycle.”

The brand also celebrates ancestral knowledge rooted in the cultural traditions of Peru, where nature’s rhythms are deeply respected. By fusing ancient wisdom with modern innovation, Muhza falls within the rise of brands defining our impactful beauty cohort Ancient Beauty Revivalists, bringing ancient beauty practices to the fore with a contemporary edge that speaks to modern needs.

This type of product innovation is also part of a flourishing movement within the beauty industry that spotlights self-awareness and personalisation for optimal skin health, empowering consumers to adapt their skincare routines to their own bodies.
