Acknowledging that “beauty is a language in perpetual evolution”, Chanel has launched its latest project, Comètes Collective, aimed at diversifying its artistry and approach to make-up. The initiative seeks to celebrate and build a community of emerging make-up artists whilst expanding Chanel’s reach to new audiences.

Selected for their creativity and authentic visions of beauty, each make-up artist possesses their own unique style. Parisian Cécile Paravina takes an innovative technical approach to experimental and ethereal looks that touch on elegance and sensuality, with a hint of darkness. Drawing on her Spanish and Gambian heritage, Ammy Drammeh describes her technique as “uncomplicated and free, but when you look closer, you can see the pauses, the accents, and the detail.” And Chinese make-up artist Valentina Li’s futuristic touch is inspired by her love of cosplay and sci-fi films. Her signature style is bold and graphic with a fantastical and nature-inspired edge.

First launching in January 2024, each artist will release their own seasonal collections and combine their visions on collaborative projects to help guide the direction of Chanel’s colour cosmetics range and the development of new products.

“The birth of the Comètes Collective reflects a new creative and visionary chapter at the heart of the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio, written in the present, while paying homage to the past, in keeping with the core values of the house,” the French luxury giant said.

Through this collective, Chanel is demonstrating its commitment to championing rising stars while navigating a new lane of non-conforming artistry. This fresh direction resonates with the values of today’s expressive consumers, who yearn for a beauty industry where innovation exists without denying heritage.
