Reigniting Interest in Modular Accessories
Published 11 November 2025
Despite having been an exciting buzzword for some time now, modular and versatile fashion has yet to have a major commercial breakthrough. Emerging American brand Parsel is aiming to fill this niche but increasingly lucrative market gap with its debut product – a function-first tote bag with adaptable components.
Referring to the product not as a bag but as a new “modular carry system”, the brand is rethinking what people use their bags for, what they carry and why.
The waterproof EVA Tote System is made from high-density ethylene vinyl acetate, aluminium and reinforced technical nylon webbing and features removable components, giving the wearer the freedom to reconfigure the bag as necessary while on the go.

Initially available in two different sizes and six colourways, the bag was born from an aim to create an adaptable product that’s both aesthetically fresh and genuinely functional. Headed by former Nike, Yeezy and Uniqlo designer Nur Abbas, it launched with just this singular product, emphasising its intent to streamline its offering and prioritise multifunctionality across the board.
Modularity can easily be viewed as a novelty or a gimmick, but in the current customisation boom – where charms and embellishment remain in demand – creative commercial wins are available in this space. There are myriad opportunities to appeal to budget-conscious consumers seeking versatility, durability and longevity from their purchases.
Similarly to the rising popularity of trompe-l’oeil print effects, consumers are increasingly drawn to dual-purpose, multifunctional pieces that offer sartorial intrigue, and smart brands will be following Parsel’s lead in merging these ideas.
