London-based designer Ariane Prin has designed a collection of oxidised and corroded pots, tray and vases made using reclaimed metal dust.

Prin mixes metal dust, plaster and water-based resin jesmonite to form a material that sets in sedimentary layers. This technique creates a unique pattern on the surface of the vessels as the metal dust slowly oxidises. After around three days of oxidisation, the process is stopped with a water-resistant coating, leaving a copper-hued gradient on each piece.

Presenting an innovative approach to reusing waste metals, this cleverly controlled technique demonstrates how chemical reactions can be applied to products to achieve unique and extraordinary finishes.
