Set in a new Brussels location and running alongside the Textiles Recycling Expo, this year’s Future Fabrics Expo (June 24-25) dialled up its focus on petrochemical alternatives and cleaner, regenerative, and circular textile solutions. We select the colour and material highlights impacting sourcing within fashion, interiors and lifestyle products – including digital dyeing and biosynthetic fibres.
The Future Fabrics Expo underscored problems arising from microfibre shedding, chemical finishes and toxic pollutants for human and planetary health – identified as some of the industry's most pressing concerns – while highlighting the technologies emerging in response.

Poised to reshape the material landscape for a post-fossil-fuel future, material science is evolving to bring pioneering solutions closer to commercial reality. The expo highlighted exciting advances in embellishment and conscious coloration systems, as well as the regenerative and circular potential offered by the burgeoning biosynthetics category.
A recurring but evolving fixture at the show, the Home, Interiors & Lifestyle hub spotlights the most compelling material innovations and opportunities geared at driving positive change within interior and product design. Biological dyes and mycelium applications both had a noticeable presence.
